Slumber Party Massacre III (1990)

The 4K box set rescued parts I and II — but the third film remains genuinely out of print, and the collector market knows it.

The film

The final entry in Roger Corman's all-women-directed slasher series, with Maria Ford anchoring it as the franchise's last final girl. It's the roughest of the three — meaner and cheaper than the near-classic original — but the driller-killer formula still delivers, and Ford gives it more than the material asks for.

Its collector status is mostly an accident of distribution: when the first two films were lavishly reissued in a 4K set, the third was left behind, and out-of-print pressings of the unrated cut now command serious money.

Editions and the price problem

The unrated cut is the one that matters — the R-rated version loses the gore that is, frankly, the selling point. Out-of-print discs trade at collector prices through third-party sellers, so decide your ceiling before you look, verify the edition and seller carefully, and remember that reissues have rescued stranded titles like this before. Patience is a strategy.

The verdict A three-star film with five-star scarcity. Buy it as a completist with open eyes, or wait for the reissue that history suggests will come.
3 / 5 — for completists — genuinely OOP
