The film
Let's be honest with each other, because that's the deal on this site: Skyscraper is not a good film. The action is cardboard, the script is bewildering, and Smith — at the absolute peak of her mid-90s fame — delivers every line as if hearing it for the first time. It is also, for connoisseurs of a certain kind of cinema, completely irresistible.
As a time capsule of 1996 — the fame economy, the straight-to-video gold rush, the Die Hard clone industry — it's genuinely fascinating, and as a camp group-watch it's close to perfect. That's the honest case for the disc, and it's a real one.
